My name is Duaa, a Palestinian mom in Gaza. I am mom to two girls—Mays, who is 4 years old, and Alma, who is 2 years old. My husband and I once had a beautiful life, filled with their laughter and joy in the warm home we built together. I am 28 years old. My husband, Abdul Hamid, is 35 years old and owned a mobile phone shop.

That shop was our only source of income—until the war came and destroyed everything. Our beautiful, warm home. Our livelihood. Even the laughter and joy of my two daughters. On October 7, my husband, my daughters, and I were displaced to shelters run by the UNRWA. We endured great suffering, struggling to access even basic necessities, as the shelters lacked privacy, cleanliness, healthy food, and even clean drinking water.

We stayed there for a while, but we were eventually displaced again, moving from place to place, desperately seeking safety for our daughters. We ended up living in a tent just meters away from graves of the dead. Living there felt like death itself. We suffered immensely, especially my daughters. In the summer, the extreme heat caused my daughter Mays to develop severe skin diseases. Her back was covered in dangerous, painful, and contagious pimples that looked like burns.

Now, winter has arrived with its bitter cold, bringing more sickness and hunger that gnaws at our insides. I feel so lost, unsure of how to protect my two daughters in these unbearable conditions. Every day is a battle for survival, and it feels like life is slipping away from us. We desperately need warm clothing, proper food, and medicine to keep my girls safe through the bitter cold of winter. Your contribution could mean nourishment for my beloved daughters. Your support could bring us what we need for survival, and to remind my little girls that there is still kindness and light in this world.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has extended a helping hand and to everyone who has shared my ordeal with their donations and support. Your generosity has been a true lifeline amidst these difficult circumstances. Despite everything you have given, I still desperately need your support. The situation hasn’t changed much, and the suffering still weighs heavily on me. Therefore, I ask you to continue your support and donations. Every contribution—even a small one—makes a huge difference in my life. Your presence by my side is the light I cling to in this darkness.

Thank you very much for your support and solidarity with my little family. I wanted to reassure you that we are still struggling to survive and to convey to you the picture of the situation here, which unfortunately has not improved and is getting worse day by day. Today my family and I are in the Mawasi area, living in a dilapidated tent that does not protect from the cold of winter or the heat of summer, and rather lacks any privacy and also lacks all the necessities of life inside it. I am speaking to you today and I have been informed that my house has been completely destroyed and that unfortunately I will continue my life in this tent. Thank you and I hope that you will continue to support me and my two daughters so that we can stay alive in light of the famine that we have been suffering from for 3 months. May you and your giving continue. ❤️
